A fleet of two talls ships can sometimes be sighted in the St Lawrence River off Gananoque and even sometimes docked here. Black Jack and Fair Jeanne are their names. Both are brigantines – this means that they have two masts, one with square sails (in front) and one with fore-and-aft sails (in back). They’re built in the style of traditional 18th century tall ships, but they are modern in every way.
If they are not already, they will be soon docked in Brockville at Tall Ships Landing getting ready for their season. We thoroughly enjoyed our half day of volunteer with the crew and then spending sometime at Aquaterrium.
